Community Guidelines

By joining The El Camino Travel Clubhouse, you adhere to the following guidelines.

Treat Others With Respect

Always remember the golden rule: Treat others the way you’d want to be treated. This rule will get you far. This space is meant to uplift one another, not tear each other down. We're all part of the same community, so be friendly, welcoming, and generally a nice person. Be someone that other people would want to be around.

Agree to Disagree

We don’t all have to think alike to get along. Having differing opinions and expressing them in a way that is thoughtful and respectful is a vital part of growth. It’s ok to disagree or present a different perspective—just be sure to do so in a way that is supportive.

Absolutely NO Hate Speech or Bullying

Hate speech or bullying directed toward any ECT Clubhouse member (either on or off the platform) will not be tolerated. Participating in hate speech or bullying will result in immediate removal from The ECT Clubhouse.

This is an Actively Anti-Racist Space

By joining The ECT Clubhouse, you acknowledge systemic racism continues to be a pervasive, global problem that must be addressed immediately. Any “All Lives Matter” speech or messages that dispute equality and equity, promote racism, or attack any marginalized groups or identities will not be tolerated. You can read more about our commitment to becoming actively anti-racist here.

Let’s Get Political

Politics are, admittedly, a tricky topic to monitor. The reality is that there is a large intersection of travel and politics, which is why there is, in fact, room for political discussion in The ECT Clubhouse. When engaging in political discussions, bearing these few points in mind will help us maintain a supportive environment.

  1. Be respectful.

  2. Be open-minded.

  3. Ask questions.

  4. Remember that not everyone is from the same place you are.

With that last point in mind, The ECT Clubhouse presents a great opportunity to learn more about the politics of another country. Be thoughtful and cognizant when asking questions and consider the cultural differences that may exist between members. If you’re not sure about something, please feel free to reach out to us about it

Pay Attention

If someone has taken the time to write a thoughtful post on seeking recommendations for an upcoming trip they’re taking to Chicago, don’t respond with why you think New York is better. Be thoughtful in your responses and respect the wishes of the original poster.

Fact Check Before Sharing News

Fake news, scare tactics, fear-mongering, un-newsworthy sources will not be tolerated and any posts will be removed. Please be sure to check your facts before posting news.

Absolutely NO Spamming or Advertising

Please keep this space free from advertisements, promos, and spam. If you have a service that you feel may be of interest to others that aligns with the spirit of The Clubhouse, please feel free to include it in organic discussions. If you aren’t sure, please run it past us first

Have Fun!

Ok, ok, guidelines can be a bit boring and serious (though important), but remember that this is a positive and uplifting space and we hope that you treat it as such. Enjoy!
