Day 1

Arrive: Welcome to Guatemala! After arriving at La Aurora Airport, you'll be scooped up for the next leg of the journey. We'll travel from the valley of Guatemala City and then climb our way to Antigua. Note how quickly the terrain becomes drenched in greenery as you enjoy the sights through the winding roads. At every turn, you will catch glimpses of dozens of volcanoes along the way until you reach the peak and begin the descent into the breathtaking Antigua valley.

We'll arrive in the early evening. Check in and get settled before heading back out for dinner. For our time in Antigua, we've selected a social impact boutique hotel with a modern aesthetic and tropical flair. This hotel provides long-term unemployed people with the opportunity to build a career in hospitality. They find interesting locations to run their hotels, repurposing buildings that have been long forgotten. Everything inside is locally and sustainably sourced and designed through a gorgeous, modern lens—imagine handmade tiles, textiles, art, furniture, and even food.

Evening: For dinner, we’re taking you to a classic Guatemalan spot that is known by many and loved by all. Settle into the cozy and colorful venue for your first introduction to the local flavors and regional dishes. This restaurant is known for celebrating all things corn (one of Guatemala's most loved products)—you’ll even have the chance to make your own tortilla as we wait for dinner. Get to know your fellow travelers as we enjoy an exciting welcome feast over candlelight.

Meals included: Dinner

Day 2

Morning: Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the hotel before heading out for the rest of the day. Ten minutes outside of the city, Molly Berry will be there to welcome us to her world, Luna Zorro, a modern textile studio located inside a 150-year-old coffee farm. Molly is a textile designer who works very closely with local weavers, collaborating on various projects with a shared goal of preserving Guatemalan culture. The weavers are honored, respected, and celebrated for their incredible talent and skill in a workplace that advocates for social equality, women’s rights, and sustainability. Molly will lead us through a natural dyes workshop with materials from the on-site garden. Using plants and flowers, we'll each have the chance to create our own masterpiece, with hand-woven textiles as our canvas in a dreamy outdoor kitchen in the garden. You’ll also have the opportunity to shop beautiful handcrafted pieces from the on-site store, which houses textile goods from local emerging artists including Meso Goods and Nada Duele.

Afternoon: In the gorgeous outdoor kitchen and garden space, enjoy an incredible open-fire lunch prepared on-site. This Mediterranean-style feast comes complete with homemade breads, locally-sourced greens, healthy treats, grilled fish, and whatever is in season! Passionate about innovative concepts and story-telling through food, our chef loves dining in nature, so we'll do just that surrounded by the lush surroundings of a country dubbed “eternal spring”. After an extravagant morning full of nature and fresh food, we invite you to enjoy the afternoon at your leisure. You can explore the local area, relax at the hotel, or venture out to discover more of Guatemala's rich culture on your own.

We've made a reservation at a dual-purpose vintage boutique store and high-end restaurant owned by a young Guatemalan couple, offering fun, family-style dinners and great cocktails.
