Which One Resonates With You?

We like to think that each El Camino trip has its own distinct personality. These personalities are created naturally by the feel of the city, its people, and the experiences they share with us through an El Camino adventure. And they are palpable—once you enjoy the Colombia trip, for example, you will understand why we think of it as our fun-loving friend. Or why San Miguel de Allende is the friend you look to for fashion advice. When you reminisce on your time in Morocco, or Nicaragua, or Cuba, you may just find yourself personifying your trip too. 

Of course, the trip personalities are complex, like their cultures, and can’t be pinned down to one dimension. These descriptions are just a glimpse into what you will experience when you “meet” an El Camino trip. Like any good friend, our trips are multifaceted, and we highly recommend taking the time to get to know them.

Bolivia – The Adventurous One 

This is our friend who will try anything once; the friend who tends to excel at everything they try because of the sense of playfulness and openness they bring to every experience. Our Bolivia trip is a wild and wonderful adventuress who quite literally transcends the ordinary. Colombia – The Loveable One 

We tend to think of our Colombia trip as that loveable, adaptable, yet fiery friend who shines brightly in any situation. This boisterous, life-of-the-party friend loves to connect with everyone around them. They are the first to get up and dance, but they also know how to soak in the slower moments. Genuinely curious, they will ask all the questions to gain a deeper understanding. If our Colombia trip was a person, they’d be the kind of person who makes you feel good when you are around them. Cuba – The Vivacious One 

Our Cuba trip is the friend whose energy—and their way of existing in the world—is unmistakably attractive. You love this friend for their liveliness as well as their complexity. If our Cuba trip were a person, they would be the type of person who can laugh and cry in the same sentence because they feel their feelings so deeply. They are passionate, and they bring that passion into everything they do. They are the once-in-a-lifetime type of friend—the type of person you don’t come across very often, but when you meet them, you know they are special. 

Egypt – The Unforgettable One

This is the friend whose fabulous reputation precedes them—could they really be so grand, enigmatic, and unforgettable?! Once you meet them, it won’t be long before you discover that everything you’ve heard is true—but better. Our Egypt trip is the friend you meet who changes your outlook on life. This friend pays homage to their past yet embraces their present. They are a beautiful mosaic of the new, the old, the ancient. Georgia – The Grounded One 

We like to think of our Georgia trip as the down-to-earth and joyful, yet formidable friend. They are the type of friend who warmly welcomes you to the group and then wows you with their depth. If our Georgia trip were a person, they would be the type of person who took up minimalism long before Marie Kondo made it fashionable. They are here for the priceless nuggets—they can do without the rest. This best friend is reverent of the natural beauty and history around them. Rugged on the surface, they can often be misunderstood, but when you take the time to get to know them, their authenticity and raw beauty shine through. 

Greece – The Aspirational One 

Open, inspired, and energized—our Greece trip radiates a sense of anything is possible. Our Greece trip is the type of friend who loves to slow down and indulge in a laid-back pace of life. They're often on the hunt for that hole-in-the-wall spot that is unassuming and unfussy. They understand that the best meal doesn't need a Michelin star following its name, just an incredible yaya (Grandma) who has been there for decades holding the keys to all the family recipes. They will wake up early to bear witness to the sunrise and will drop their plans for an impromptu dip in the sea. Our Greece trip will leave you feeling refreshed and renewed, with a greater sense of wonder. 

Guatemala – The Nature-Loving One 

When in doubt, you can find this friend outside. Whether it’s hiking near volcanoes, swimming amongst underwater ruins, or leisurely walking through a botanical garden, our Guatemala trip is the type of friend who is happiest in nature. Their love for the environment knows no bounds, and it is compounded by sharing outdoor adventures with good friends. Our Guatemala trip radiates warmth and creativity—they are always willing to learn from their surroundings, both the people and the places.

Japan – The Unique One

You can’t put this friend in a box—they are versatile and do things on their own terms. Morocco – The Dreamy One 

Our Morocco trip is the friend that welcomes you with open arms and an open heart, ready to fully embrace you with their hospitable nature. They are the kindred-spirits type of best friend—the type of person you meet and think “I feel like I’ve known you forever even though we just met.” If our Morocco trip was a person, they would be a very kind and intentional one. They are in no rush—they want to take their time and enjoy every moment… preferably while basking in the sun. 

Nicaragua – The Chill One 

We tend to think of our Nicaragua trip as the super chilled-out best friend who is always just… vibin’. Our Nicaragua trip is the type of friend who can really go with the flow. They are just as happy lounging in a hammock all day as they are exploring a city. Our Nicaragua trip is relaxed but not reserved. If our Nicaragua trip was a person, they’d be the type of person who is the first to jump in the water. Okay, and maybe the first to take a nap in the sun after a great swim, too. 

Oaxaca – The Uplifting One 

This is our friend who radiates gratitude, connection, and creation. They have a deep respect for the traditions and customs that surround them. They love working with their hands, donning striking color palettes, and tasting new flavors. If our Oaxaca trip was a person, they’d be the individualistic type who is uncompromisingly themselves. They always show up in full form with a contagious sense of confidence and optimism. Our Oaxaca trip is the curious and perceptive type of best friend—they care about those around them. Spend some time with our Oaxaca trip, and you will begin noticing the magic around you too. 

Spain – The Free-Spirited One 

Despite straddling two nations, our Spain trip has a strong sense of identity and is beautifully true to themself. They have a distinctive, slower approach to life—taking in all the deliciousness of being in the present moment. As a gourmand and wine enthusiast, you want to share a meal with this friend. Not only do they know all the best places to eat and drink, but they know how to really enjoy it. Truly unlike anyone else, let this free-spirited friend show you their unique way of life.

Trinidad and Tobago – The Carefree One

Vietnam – The Sensational One
