Welcome to San Sebastian, the picturesque coastal city that’s renowned for its world-class cuisine. Located between France and Spain, the Basque Country stands as somewhat of a mystery to historians. Despite being Europe's oldest people, the Basque have managed to preserve their language, customs, and traditions throughout the ages, and are fiercely proud of their unique identity. Offering history, culture, a renowned food scene, and beautiful beaches, San Sebastian ticks all the big boxes. But while there is plenty to offer, this is a place where we recommend slowing down. The perfect trip is spent wandering its beautiful cobbled streets, indulging in pintxos, savoring Txakoli wine, and connecting with the surrounding nature. In other words, it’s a city to enjoy life's simple pleasures, which sounds pretty good to us.

Stay

If you want to immerse yourself in nature while still being within driving distance of the city, then add Hotel Itureggi to your itinerary. Drink

Enjoy an evening tipple beneath a stunning domed ceiling at Zenit Hotel Convento. Located in the entrance of a former convent-turned-hotel, the space still features stained glass, religious figurines, and a muraled ceiling. ECT Spain Expert, Danny Adler, says this is a good option if you’re in the mood for cocktails.

Eat

The eatery embeds a maritime theme throughout its menu with fresh fish and seasonal vegetables. The tasting menu changes throughout the year, but expect to discover a modern take on traditional fare, fresh ingredients, and delicious dishes.
