Haneen K’s Field Notes on El Salvador
Field Notes are firsthand travel recommendations for and by our ECT Clubhouse members. Get the lowdown on destinations across the globe from travelers and locals alike. This week, ECT Clubhouse Member, Haneen Khalaf, shares her intel on El Salvador.
Hi all! I had the pleasure of exploring El Salvador solo for 15 days and was blown away by the natural beauty, the warmth of the locals, and the ease of travel and remote work. Here are my top recommendations!
Stay
Nico Urban Hotel: a gorgeous boutique hotel in the middle of Zona Rosa, a semi-touristy, yet charming neighborhood.
Do
Iglesia El Rosario: #1 favorite: Iglesia El Rosario (pictured right) is breathtaking; said to be the most beautiful church in Central America; rainbow stained glass masterpiece!
Eat
Casa de la Abuela: an adorable and perfect cafe with great coffee and breakfast foods. It was my favorite cafe of the trip.
Also included in her notes:
“one of my favorite hotels in the world; beautifully designed, sustainable hotel right on El Zonte Beach; the owner and staff are amazing and doing great things for the community.”
a hotel with “other-worldly views of the volcanos of Cerro Verde National Park!”
an outdoor cafe where “the menu changes every week and the food and coffee are AMAZING; the owner is super creative with using locally-sourced ingredients to make actual masterpieces.”
a rooftop with “amazing views of the city and surrounding volcanos; great food/drinks.”
…and much more!
