Hi everyone! I’ve recently returned from Vietnam and wanted to share some of my highlights from Hoi An. Yes, it's one of Vietnam's most touristy areas, however if you stay outside of the main area then it’s a much quieter vibe and not overcrowded at all. After a chilly and hectic few days in Hanoi, Hoi An felt like a warmer and calmer place to unwind. It’s got the beach and gorgeous rice fields, tons of coffee shops for people-watching, and of course amazing food (the food varies between regions so you can find some great regional specialties). Here are my highlights from the trip:

Eat

Tin restaurant - A family-run spot situated away from the crowds that served really nice food. I recommend trying the chicken Quang noodles, a central Vietnamese speciality where the noodles come in a really delicious broth (more flavoursome than pho) and served with crackers. I also loved the fried chicken rice.

Drink

Ren Rứa Cafe - So many gorgeous coffee shops in Hoi An! You really cannot go wrong with the cafes here but Ren Rứa felt like a hidden gem. It’s at the back of a quiet alley and has a nice outdoor seating space full of plants. The salt coffee is delicious!

Do

Hai Van Pass - Not exactly a secret but definitely my favourite experience of the trip. We did a day experience from Hue to Hoi An with Hue Motorbike Tour which included swimming in a waterfall and lunch at the beach before doing the Hai Van Pass. This could also be done the opposite way too.

Also included in her notes:

  • An Airbnb that was “a literal oasis situated directly infront of a rice field with its own pool”

  • A yoga studio that “is directly overlooking the rice fields so you have the best view during the class.”

  • An upscale dining spot that is “a true hidden gem - the location, service, food and cocktails were all amazing.”
