Field Notes are firsthand travel recommendations for and by our ECT Clubhouse members. Get the lowdown on destinations across the globe from travelers and locals alike. This week, the team behind "the coolest AirBnb in Massachusetts", The Filomena, share their insider tips for The Berkshires

Just 2 hours and change from NYC and a little less from Boston, The Berkshires is a verdant gem that mixes the best of nature and culture across a series of mountain-laced towns and villages. From Edith Wharton to Normal Rockwell to Ellsworth Kelly, the Berkshires have always attracted artists, so whether you are in the mood to get inspired at one of our many museums or surround yourself with peaceful rolling hills and crystal clear lakes, The Berkshires most likely has what you're looking for.

The Filomena is a design-forward, renovated 19th Century Rectory that Conde Nast called the coolest Airbnb in Massachusetts. With 12' ceilings, six bedrooms, four and a half bedrooms, a fully stocked chef's kitchen, several distinctly designed rooms on the first floor, and an acre of meadow and flower/vegetable gardens, it’s somewhere that you'll never run out of a space to relax and get inspired.

Eat

Six Depot: Walk into town and grab a coffee and pastry at former train station turned coffee roastery and cafe, Six Depot, then sit outside on the porch and enjoy the view of the mountains and old town charm of downtown West Stockbridge.

Other recommendations shared: A must-do dinner spot that serves local food from vegetable and livestock farmers, cheesemakers, and foragers. Head to the Clubhouse for the details.

Do

Bob’s Way: A trip to the Berkshires wouldn't be complete without a hike, so grab your boots and head over to Bob's Way for a relatively light hike that features excellent bird watching and several beaver huts and damns. Dog friendly!

Other recommendations shared: A true “unsung gem” of the Berkshires—especially if you are a fan of art and architecture. Head to the Clubhouse for the details.

Shop

Dare Bottleshop: In the summer, stop by Dare Bottleshop in Lenox to grab some wine and snacks, then you can have a picnic on the lawn and watch the Boston Symphony Orchestra perform for free during the day.

Other recommendations shared: The spots where you'll find the most interesting and quality antiques in the area. Head to the Clubhouse for the details.
