Who is Molly Berry?
I’m the Founder and Creative Director of Luna Zorro - a bespoke, custom textile studio. I’m also a designer and travel enthusiast from California. I’ve lived in Antigua, Guatemala with my husband and two children since 2010. I’m a graduate of the UCLA World Arts and Cultures program and spent the last two decades traveling the world honing my skills and experience in design and curated travel while building a lifestyle brand related to multicultural design practices and mediums. You’ll usually spot me with a camera in hand. My happiest moments are when I’m surrounded by those I love while doing creative things and seeing new places.
Where are you going and who with?
Mallorca, Spain - because it is a magical island that makes for a beautiful combination of a relaxing vacation and a cultural experience.
Solo traveler or travel partner?
While I love solo travel, this trip will be taken with my husband and two small kids (ages 8 and 11). Travel and seeing the world is a major priority in our family - it allows us to experience new things together in such a different way - it's the perfect opportunity to learn and grow and create memories.
What’s your travel style?
I would say that my husband and I share a very similar travel style. We both love a combination of history, culture, a lot of eating and as much active time in nature as possible. Mallorca is a perfect destination for us as a family because it is a blend of all of these things.
Molly’s Mallorca Hit List
What I Like.
The natural landscape of the island is truly stunning - from the endless beaches and turquoise waters, to the hiking and rich agriculture, the deep history of the island, the food and design scenes in Palma and beyond, the slow pace and the old world, European feel - there is a little something for everyone. Plus, we are an English/Spanish bilingual family so it's fun to be so far from home but still be able to speak the local language!
What I Recommend.
Spot Mallorca, Palma 🍽
Joan Miro studios and museum, Palma 🎨
Mercat de Santa Catalina, Palma 🍷
Ca's Patro March, Cala Deià 🦪
Port of Soller, Soller 🛍
In Palma, I love Spot Mallorca for lunch or dinner, a visit to the Joan Miro studios and museum, a stop for a glass of wine and tapas at Mercat de Santa Catalina (also the best neighborhood for shopping), lunch overlooking the water at Ca's Patro March, taking the little open air train ride from Soller to the Port of Soller, shopping at small local markets and cooking dinner at our airbnbs and eating outside on warm summer nights, and generally zipping around to any of the hundreds of gorgeous beaches around the island in our rental car.
Describe how travel affects your well-being in 5 words.
Inspiring, creative, impactful, life affirming, educational and fun!
Carry-on or check-in?
Check in (especially with kids!!) but I've gotten a lot more efficient at packing over the years.
Hotel or Airbnb?
I love hotels so much but Airbnb is always the way to go with kids.
